Pt 2- Let's talk about that ending guys. OMG! Gut-wrenching. Ahh! I remember watching this episode and literally screaming at the tv. This had me shook. And I had to watch till fall for the next season. The wait until killed me back then. Perfect song playing at the end.
Buffy 2x22. Not a fan of this episode in general. Had way too much torture for a Buffy episode and of Giles? Come on! And with images of Jenny! That's way too cruel writers! But I did enjoy the awkward scenes between Joyce and Spike and the fight choreography.
Pt 2- Dru's first meeting with Angel, unbeknownst to her, was hella creepy. When you care to send the very best, choose an "immolation-o-gram." Clever plan but super sadistic. Did they really bring Kendra back just to kill her off?! Wow! That hurts.
Buffy 2x21. We get a lot here: Angel's backstory as well as Buffy's. We get to see her in the very beginning dealing with her slayer responsibilities. Whistler is such a great character. Loved his narration. Buffy gave Angel purpose. Love it.
Pt 2-Critical look at how jocks are treated in schools & the pressure to win championships. Feeding Buffy to monsters to get raped. WTF is wrong with this episode. Kind of a sad one. The boys are forced to live the rest of their lives as monsters.
Buffy 2x20. Ah, the swim team episode. A very X-files episode. Hello ickyness & ripped open skin. Don't watch while eating. Buffy fights off an attempted sexual assault from a jock who claims she led him on & Buffy's blamed for it? How topical.
Pt2- Angel goes from terrorizing Buffy & her friends to flirting & seducing Drusilla & tearing Spike down. He’s a hell of a guy. Cue the sarcasm.
Buffy 2x19. Sad ghost story that’s pretty much the whole episode & is quite depressing. OMG Mr. Synder! Love that Willow’s a teacher. Interesting telepathic mind link from ghost to Buffy. From one tragic relationship to another. Thanks, writers.
Buffy 2x18. Even Slayers get the flu! Love that the Scoobies tried to pick up the slack. Willow's such a smarty. Nice backstory for Buffy giving her a little depth & a chance to defeat her childhood monster. One creepy demon. Good old tactless Cordy strikes again. Nice ending.
Pt 3-Poor fish & most likely that dog! The ending with Angel's sick smile takes the cake for sadism in this episode, as he watches Buffy and Willow's suffering from the window outside. Gut-wrenching, tragic & difficult to watch. Needlessly cruel.
Pt 2- Stalker much, Angel? Never liked Mrs. Calendar but didn't want her dead. Just when Buffy tells Jenny that Giles misses her & that she should go to him & when Jenny finds the cure, she dies. Giles finds her in his bed with staged champagne & roses. How cruel!
Buffy 2x17. Rather dislike this one. Have a problem with the title as well as the creepy self-indulgent voiceover. Get over yourself, Angel! This isn't about passion. He's psychotic, obsessive & wants to harm Buffy, make her suffer. He's the villain. Nothing to do with passion.
Buffy 2x16. Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered. A strange yet memorable episode that’s very love focused and perfect for Feb. Set on Valentine's Day. In the words of Willow, "Sometimes love makes you do the wacky." Angelus and Spike make an appearance as well as Amy.
Pt2- Love the comparison between high school boys & werewolves -- both act on their animal natures or so they say in Buffy. Enjoyed the guy talk with Cordy & Willow. Oz & Willow are adorable here. "Ethical treatment of werewolves,"-- ha! Fun ep surrounded by toxic masculinity.
Buffy 2x15. Men are the topic for today told from the point of view of fed-up women. Hello sexual harassment. Choking on the constant sexist and chauvinistic dialogue. Buffy fights it head on but it's way too pervasive in this ep for my taste.
Pt2- The old horror trope sex equals death here because it makes your lover into a killer. Turns Buffy into a slasher. Men change after sex but they don’t turn homicidal & sadistic. Angelus as a character was way too dark & sadistic for the show. Punishing and cruel storyline.
Buffy 2x14. Painful episode. Wish they wouldn't have done that. Buffy & Angel had such an amazing connection and love story that just scratched the surface of what they were capable of as a couple. Had to ruin it with grandstanding about premarital sex!
Buffy 2x13. Buffy’s dreams are so dramatic and creepy! Love the girl talk with Buffy & Willow. Drusilla and Spike are back at it planning to give Buffy a birthday to remember! We finally find out some secrets about Mrs. Calendar. Overly emotional with a suspenseful ending.
Pt 2- Egg sex ed? What happened to dolls? Only in Sunnydale! Sex has consequences. Really? We have to preach in Buffy? Hmm... Considering that Angelus is up in two episodes, I see this ep as foreshadowing.
Buffy 2x12. Crazy episode! Not a fan of this one. You’ll never look at eggs the same way again! Shades of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Ridiculous villain but loved the Gorch brothers and the scenes with Angel.
Buffy 2x11. Shades of Stepfather (1987). Love the family time with the Scoobies. That was one intense golf scene! Ted is pretty creepy. Love that the evil here isn’t the usual fanfare. Somber towards the end but an interesting story overall. Loved watching her friends investigate.
Buffy 2x10. Love Kendra & the friction between her & Buffy. She makes for a nice foil and offsets the rather dark undertones of the episode like the torture of Angel. Gotta love Cordy. Had some great scenes. She brings some humor into it & lightens the episode further.
Pt 2- As an aside, for the interior design lovers such as myself, we actually get to see Angel’s apartment. Interesting decorating style & color scheme with some museum-like displays. Odd, not exactly what one would think for Angel but it kinda works.
Buffy 2x09. Buffy & Angel are adorable together here. Gotta love Spike and Drusilla. Who says villains can’t love? Fav line from this ep, “The Hellmouth presents Dead Guys on Ice.” Love that the assassins could be anyone. Creepy & suspenseful.
Buffy 2x08. A horror episode focused on none other than Giles. He was always my fav character. Love learning more about him and his Ripper days. Some off-screen torture of Buffy. Willow saves the day in this one. Take that Buffy! Very clever editing and juxtaposition of scenes.
Pt 2- Willow effortlessly lightened an otherwise unpalatably depressing episode that starts off warm and fun. Talk about a severe tonality shift. The ending is a major Debbie Downer. Memorable but tragic. Very last scene ends on a strangely thoughtful almost philosophical note.
Buffy 2x07. Well hello Drusilla. That’s one hell of an opener. Willow is adorable and so funny here! She has the best lines! Relationship focused episode that seamlessly incorporates the main baddie, vamps into it. A jealous Angel turning to internet savvy Willow, love it.
Pt2-Spike & Drusilla make a deliciously creepy cameo. Buffy’s helplessness was a tad sadistic but thankfully they didn’t dwell on it for too long. A creative episode.
Buffy 2x06. Ominous start. Love Angel in this episode. What an original idea. I always remember this episode around Halloween. Love me some Ethan Rayne and his dark history with Giles. One of the great Buffy villains. Dialogue spot on as always. Right blend of humor and action.
Buffy 2x05. If you didn’t think frats were evil, now you have proof. Horror ep about a sadistic frat. Dark episode sprinkled with humor. Great opening with the Scoobies. Willow’s angry rant to Angel & Giles was perfect. Stick up for your bestie.
Buffy 2x04. Percy’s “duh” look at discovering that the periodic table doesn’t have just 14 elements but 103 - priceless. Interesting take on mummies in the Buffy universe. Buffy takes an active role investigating the mummy & coming up with a plan. She and Giles work well together.
Buffy 2x03. Love the setup of this episode and the fact that Buffy’s mom not only sees how strong and brave her daughter is but scares off Spike. Love me some strong women. Spike & Drusilla’s debut ep. They're wonderful & creepy together. Really exciting episode.
Buffy 2x02. That weird Frankenstein episode. Creepy AF & tragic. Forget finding the right girl, why not make one? Great dialogue. Giles is great here. Jealousy looks good on Angel. A horror Buffy episode handled beautifully. Fun to watch, loved the investigation.
Buffy 2x01. Buffy knows how to make an entrance. OMG the Principal…dramatic much? One creepy dream. The episode's a reminder about the damaging effects of repression. Happy to know by the end of the ep, Buffy's back to herself & ready to move on. Has very understanding friends.
Buffy 1x12. Painful, emotional, and exciting episode. Reminds you that despite Buffy being the slayer, she still only a 16-year-old girl tasked with a very dangerous but important calling. Angel’s in this one. She's brave and sacrifices for the greater good. A strong character.
Buffy 1x11. Love the discussion of Shylock in the beginning. Interesting conception for a villain. Memorable episode. Great flashbacks. Every scene was carefully constructed. Unified vision. Angel makes a cameo. Cordy-centered episode. Creepy X-Files vibe to the ending.
Pt 2- Talk about character development. Loved seeing everyone's nightmares. Triggers: spiders and clowns. A departure from the usual Buffy episode. The explanation's a tad dark. The scene with Buffy's dad...Ouch! Unique and memorable episode.
Buffy 1x10. Frank discussion of divorce between Buffy & Willow. What a creepy dream to be powerless before the very monsters you’re sworn to kill. Love the structure here, where the nightmare world blends into reality. Never know when it’ll happen next.
Buffy 1x09. Fun but creepy ep. Good storytelling with the perfect red herring. Love that one of the things Sunnydale High is known for is spontaneous cheerleader combustion. Great use of sarcasm. Perfect comic ending. The dramatic reading though…Don’t quit your day job, Buffy.
Buffy 1x08. Ridiculous, creepy, over the top, & fun to watch at the same time. A memorable episode. One of my favs. Love the argument over technology between Mrs. Calendar and Giles. A very Willow-centered episode. Online dating can be rough, never know who’s on the other end.
Buffy 1x07. A very Angel-centric episode focused on his relationship with Buffy. They have their first kiss and she finds out the truth about her beau...Finally! 240 years old? Talk about age gap relationships. Great scenes with Angel & Darla. Lot of action here. Great ending.
Buffy 1x06. A memorable albeit odd episode. A trip to the zoo will never seem the same after seeing this one! Warning: that pig doesn’t last long. Principal Flutie was an interesting foil. Zander's cruel here. Tough episode to watch from that standpoint. Not a warm, fuzzy episode.
Pt 2-She wants the guy and her career, a feminist episode. “This is the 1990’s, in point of fact. And I can do both. Clark Kent has a job. I just want to go on a date.” We see the whole affair from start to finish. A true glimpse into what life is like for her as a woman.
Buffy 1x05. Buffy Great opening with Giles grading Buffy’s performance. Buffy's quick & smart, coming to the conclusion even before Giles. Great dialogue. Love that the episode is centered around Buffy’s desire to be a normal girl on a date with a guy & also be the slayer.
Pt 2- Fashion tip from Buffy: shoulder pads are predatory. Love that Giles knows someone who studies fairy tales and bugs! And Buffy comes up with a plan in seconds. Go Buffster!
Buffy 1x04. If Xander were only as suave in reality as he is in his dreams. Love how supportive the first science teacher was of Buffy. Could have really inspired her to learn. Buffy the science slayer. Lol. A strange, insect and Zander-focused episode.
Buffy 1x03. Cheerleading can be murder. Talk about high stakes. Dark and creepy episode. Quite memorable. Our first introduction to Amy. Loved the interactions between Buffy and her mother. Great conversations. A solid non-vampire episode.
Pt2-Cordelia shouldn't have trusted Willow! Love that scene! "Okay, how do we save it?” “Deliver,” Willow says. Cordy presses delete thinking Del is for deliver. Brilliant. For all the outcasts, that scene’s for you. Buffy is quite efficient & decisive here. An exciting episode.
Buffy 1x02. Kudos to Joss Whedon for creating a rich mythos involving demons, & vampires. Giles has the funniest lines here. Zander & Willow are officially on the team. Poor Jesse. Cryptic sexy AF Angel makes an appearance and is actually quite helpful when he stops wise-cracking.
Pt 2- Hello socially awkward Zander. Good use of sarcasm in this episode in particular. Enjoyed watching Buffy navigate school, clichés, finding friends, and accepting her calling. Great pilot.
Buffy 1x01. I remember being so shocked by that beginning. Talk about flipping tropes on their heads. Women don’t always have to be the victim; sometimes they can be the villains. Great use of Buffy’s dreams as exposition. Loved the conversation with Principal Flutie.
Love the characters and the world but I'm not sold on some of the choices made: Riley's character in general, the assault on Buffy by Spike, the death of Tara, & some of the deaths in the final episode. I do love this series dearly. Grew up with it and it’s close to my heart.
